BOE receives Budget Calendar for 2026-27
Principals/Supervisors receive budget development materials during Admin Council meeting; portion of Administrative Council/Chat will be devoted to budget planning
Executive Budget Proposal is anticipated to be received by this date
BOE receives draft “rollover budget draft,” and initial Board discussion of staffing & programs
BOE approves resolution to publish legal notices (budget notice & election)
BOE appoints Board of Registration
Submit 2026-27 Tax Levy Limit calculation to Office of State Comptroller
BOE receives updated budget draft, including BOCES costs
BOE discussion of all budget items
Legal Notice of school budget hearing and budget vote. Must advertise four times within 7 weeks of the vote with first publication at least 45 days before date of budget vote.
BOE receives updated Final Budget Draft
BOE may approve the budget or delay approval until April 16th
BOE approves final budget proposal (if not already approved at previous meeting)
Property Tax Report Card to be filed with NYSED
Deadline for submission of petitions for nominations of BOE candidates (20 days before election for small city school districts)
Target date for Budget Newsletter distribution
Deadline for distributing Military ballots (14 days prior to vote for small city districts)
Last possible day for Voter Registration by the school district Board of Registration (small city districts)
Budget materials to be made available in all schools and on the district website
Copies of budget materials must be available to City residents upon request
Annual Budget Hearing
Budget Notice must be mailed to eligible voters after the Hearing no later than six days prior to the vote
School Budget Vote & BOE Election (polls open 7am-8pm)
