Technology Integration

Within the Plattsburgh City School District, technology provides access to tools that transform learning and offer meaningful collaboration experiences. It allows access to knowledge beyond our school buildings and empowers students to solve real-world problems. It also sparks innovation and provides tools to be innovative.

We use the Triple E Framework to evaluate technology use within classrooms, focusing on how it engages, enhances, and extends learning. For example, teachers in every classroom use ViewSonic panels to create interactive and engaging lessons. Additionally, vetted educational technology software is employed to support diverse learning needs and provide quick feedback.

Technology skills acquired will be valuable in higher education and the modern workforce. We value the balance of student experiences with and without technology. When using technology, educators will be able to meet the needs of all students with more individualized learning experiences, highly engaging lessons, and quick feedback.

A primary focus of Technology Integration in PCSD is the ongoing support and development of administration, instructional staff, instructional support staff, and students. The district has one Technology Integration Specialist who uses the district coaching model to assist teachers in integrating technology into the curriculum. They are designing technology support and training that is adaptable and innovative. Meet the Technology Integration Specialists

The Plattsburgh City School District emphasizes the integration of technology into the curriculum to enhance both teaching and learning. To support this initiative, the district has appointed Abby Leonard, a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA), as the District Technology Integrationist.

Abby, a former fifth-grade teacher, is dedicated to equipping students and staff with the necessary resources, skills, and instruction to succeed in a technologically advanced world. She believes that in our rapidly evolving, information-centric era, it is crucial to prepare students to be proficient with technology tools, engage in a technology-rich environment, and develop essential life skills.

The District Technology Integrationist collaborates with Building Technology Integrationists and teachers to focus on:

  1. Identifying high-quality curriculum and instructional content to meet student needs.
  2. Promoting student-centered technology that encourages active engagement.
  3. Providing professional development for teachers.
  4. Ensuring proper infrastructure support to successfully implement the district’s technology vision.
